Answer to Scenario 1
The customer requirements can be met by placing a 7200 router at the central site with the CIP
processor module. Also, install three DLCI circuits to each remote site and specify that the
circuits get 64 K CIR. The third circuit for Telnet has a CIR of 0, and Telnet traffic will get
through unless the WAN is severely congested.
Configuring the remotes to peer with the 7200 router satisfies the DLSw+ requirement.
Figure 14-21 shows the suggested solution.

Scenario 1 Solution
Advantage: If you use only one router at the central site, there will be fewer routers to maintain.
Advantage: Cost. There is no CIP router to maintain and expense at the central site.
Disadvantage: One central-site router is susceptible to failure.
Disadvantage: If traffic exceeds the remote link's capacity, Telnet might not get through.
Disadvantage: Cost, due to the need to pay for three DLCIs at the remote sites.
Answer to Scenario 2
Place a CIP 7200 router with a CPA adapter at the central site and a separate router connected
to the WAN. The 7200 CIP router does not have to peer with the remote routers; that is the job
of the WAN router.
Figure 14-22 shows the suggested solution.
