SNA Technology
The CCDP exam requires you to have an in-depth understanding of Systems Network
Architecture (SNA) technology. This chapter focuses on several topics, including the types
of gateways used and the two types of connections that are primarily used in an SNA
environment: SDLC and LLC2. The main components that make up the SNA network are
also discussed, including mainframes, front-end processors (FEPs), node types, cluster
controllers, and physical and logical units.
One of the amazing things about SNA is its ability to predict response times. Even though
the networks of today have faster processors, they still cannot guarantee the response time
of the older SNA networks with slower processors.
How to Best Use This Chapter
By following these steps, you can make better use of your study time:
·
Keep your notes and the answers for all your work with this book in one place for easy
reference.
·
Take the "Do I Know This Already?" quiz and write down your answers. Studies show
that retention is significantly increased through writing down facts and concepts, even
if you never look at the information again.
·
Use the diagram shown in Figure 12-1 to guide you to the next step.
