RouteitRight was recently contacted by Happy Routing. Happy Routing has just purchased
regional outlets. To streamline business and administrative costs, the company would like to
have one network protocol running through all of its sites. Currently, four protocols exist at the
four different sites: OSPF at Memphis, IGRP at Atlanta, EIGRP at Charlotte, and RIP at
Jacksonville. The networking group at Happy Routing cannot agree to standardizing on a single
protocol. Peter Packett will talk to each network administrator to try to bring about a change to
a common protocol. One of the sites, Memphis, is not using Cisco equipment and, therefore,
cannot use IGRP or EIGRP.
Freddy Forklift will call the Memphis office. If he can sway them to implement a Cisco router
in their segment of the WAN, the standardization process might be simplified. RouteitRight has
recommended that Happy Routing redistribute the different protocols until a standard can be
determined.
Look at the network topology, shown in Figure 6-13.
