DLSW+ Considerations
DLSW+ Considerations
A potential issue arises with recommended LLQ/CBWFQ admission criteria for AVVID when DLSW+
traffic is present in the network. DLSw+ traffic is marked with an IP Precedence of 5 (DSCP 40) by
default when DLSw+ is enabled on a router. This may interfere with, and adversely affect, bandwidth
provisioning policies. The solution is to modify DLSw+ traffic marking.
First ensure that the DLSw+ priority statement is not being used to classify DLSw+ traffic with multiple
IP Precedence values utilizing multiple TCP/IP ports for communication. If this is not the case, the
following commands can be added to the configuration of DLSw+ peer routers to change the default
DLSw+ IP Precedence to 2.
dlsw local-peer peer-id 192.168.10.1
dlsw remote-peer 0 tcp 192.168.100.1
dlsw tos map high 2 medium 2 normal 2 low 2
Because DLSw+ does not currently support the full DSCP range, a separate match statement for ToS 2
(DSCP 16) would be required in the class-map for mission-critical data on the WAN edges. An example
is shown:
class-map match-any GOLD-DATA
match ip dscp 16
Assigns newly-modified DLSw+ traffic to Gold class.
match ip dscp af21
match ip dscp af22
