If you change the LAN switch type, you change it for all ports on the switch.
Configuring VLANs
C
onfiguring VLANs is the easy part of the job. It is trying to under-
stand which users you want in each VLAN that is time consuming. Once you
have decided the number of VLANs you want to create and the users that
will be members of each, you can create your VLANs. You can create up
to 64 VLANs on a 1900 switch. A separate spanning-tree instance can be
configured per VLAN.
To configure VLANs on the 1900 series switch, choose K from the Initial
User Interface menu to get into IOS configuration. Even though you can
create VLANs with the menu system available with the 1900 switch, I will
only show you how to configure VLANs with the 1900 switch CLI.
The following switch output is the console display when connecting to a
1900 switch. Press K to enter the CLI mode, and enter global configuration
mode using the enable command and then config t.
